Finally got to see Justice League Unlimited, and it was great.
Taped JLU and the two shows before it, Teen Titans and The Batman, also DC Comics shows. All 3 are very fun, very cool. Teen Titans I’ve seen quite a few times, and it has such an oddball, distinct feel – it’s easy to love it. This was my first time seeing the new The Batman series, though, as well as my first time seeing Justice League Unlimited. (For anyone who knows me, this is a surprise – the Justice League comics are the ones I collected for years and years and years. I still have boxes of them in my basement, although I’ve not bought any new ones in the last few years. (Time and money finally caught up with my habit!)
Warning: Geek alarms going off:
The new series seems really fun. I love the characters I got to see in action, and the format seems like it’s very open – they just bring in different heroes from whatever version of the Justice League that they need. In the credits were Zatanna, The Atom and Red Tornado?!
I was amazed at the scene where Batman runs thru the JL Satellite, which apparently is populated(?) by a ton of Leaguers. (Or maybe they were all just hanging out?) But I saw Vibe! VIBE?! Walking in the hallway! I mean, from the Detroit incarnation, where the headquarters was in a Detroit warehouse? That version lasted what, a year? Vibe, the break dancing hero who used sound as a weapon?! That’s sweet as hell! (I mean, he was one of the worst characters ever to appear in a comic book, but still…the fact that they even had him mixed in there! I love it!)
I have it on tape, and can’t wait to rewind it and check out all the Leaguers that were in that scene again. They even mentioned Captain Atom! And Dammit I love Jonn Jonzz.
SO, now I’m really pissed that I’ve missed this series up until now (thanks, Mike, for not taping them and sending them to me! Bastard.) Now I’m gonna have to wait for them to come out on DVD or something! I’ll have to do some internet research and find out how many episodes I missed, and if they’re in reruns or something. Anybody know?
After watching the show, I really miss those comics. I’ve read a few now and then, just hanging out at Border’s and reading them, but there’s no way I can go back to collecting them. Too much other stuff to do. They’re a great escape, though!
DAmnit! Finally!
You know T, I ain’t never been a fan of the DC comics, but I gots to say that WB’s animated take on Batman, Superman and now Justice league is incredible.
Re: DAmnit! Finally!
MIke-
Agreed. I’ve loved all the versions of the League (well…some more than others), and it’s great to see them done in a nice animated version. This is almost enough to make up for the Super Friends cartoon we watched as kids, which as I got older and more into the comic book I found to be more and more painful to watch!
So, you’re the one with all the knowledge of Hollywood at your fingertips – find out how I get the series on DVD!
Cool website, shipoffools.com, by the way. What’s the plan with it?
Speaking of comics
LOL, Just finished reading Tony’s stream of consciousness, and figured I should ad a comment to let him know how much I’ve enjoyed it.
Congratulations on the reviews and the work on the show it sounds like it went great. It’s been fun reading about the progress. Keep up the good work.
For anyone who might be interested here is a link to a DC and Marvel hero based game called Click Heroes

Re: Speaking of comics
Hey Spence, good to hear from you. Check in a bunch, and stay in touch!
Thanks for the Click Heroes stuff, I’ll check it out!
Of course, the chance of me having the time or money to get hooked on something else is a physical impossiblity, but it’s fun to look at things I’d LIKE to do and just drool over them…
