Okay, Sunday was the Survivor Finale. Spoilers ahead, so beware:
What the hell was Ian thinking?!
I mean, okay, I’ve not been stranded on an island with strangers and been forced to become friends with them over a month of hardships, so I couldn’t tell you how I would react in that situation. HOWEVER; you are playing a GAME, you DUMBASS. What you did was according to the rules!! I mean, if they were playing tennis, and Tom and Katie started whining “Ian, you hit the ball HARD and it bounced TWICE on my side!” wouldn’t you think “Um…and your point is?”
Did it make for good television? Yes. Absolutely, because I was moved. On the other hand, I was moved to thinking what a dumbass Ian was. I mean, he gave up AT LEAST a hundred grand. One Hundred Thousand Dollars. So that people he’d known for a month would think he was nice. He VERY possibly gave up a million dollars. One. Million. Dollars.
Dumbass.
But, that’s what I love about this show – this season was very good, with the twists and turns and backstabbing.
In other news, I was annoyed that Tom won, because I just found him smug…I wanted Ian to win (if Stephanie couldn’t). And then Tom gave that moronic answer to the question “What’s the biggest reason we SHOULDN’T give you the money?”. In essence, he said “Because I had a fun time out here.” Katie at least gave an honest answer about her behavior! I mean, she didn’t help herself at all at final tribal council, and there’s no way she was gonna win once the jury found out that Ian just gave it to her anyway, but Tom’s ridiculous “Don’t give me the money because I’ve got a family and had fun being away from them for a month” tripe was SOooo fake that I was hoping they’d all vote for Katie just because of that!
Now, we wait for Fall, and the new season. Looks very cool.
Today, ran a bunch of errands with Max, got some scripts copied (Freaking Kinko’s is expensive! Bastards.), did some scriptwork for July’s WTP event and some planning for June’s Staged Readings. Had a great picnic dinner with Jeanne and the kids at the park, watched the Tigers win in 11 innings (2 bases loaded situations wasted before that, but they at least won the freakin’ thing!). So, a good day. I’m exhausted from being up late after the Theatre Awards last night which were fun; Purple Rose won 3 of their nominations, I got nice mentions by two people at the podium, which was totally unexpected, saw a bunch of good folks I haven’t seen in a while, got some praise for Summer and Smoke and some criticism for Summer and Smoke so it was nice to have a well rounded night.
Tomorrow I’m off to Detroit for a “Raising More Money” fundraising workshop for the Theatre Project. Looking forward to it.
Now, I’m off to sleep. Bye now.
