Theatrical PingPong!

This video is awesome. It’s a little hard to see, but it’s the content of the video that I love! Click on it, and keep the playback window small for better quality so you can make out what’s going on!

Basic theatrical conventions executed in a fun, funny, interesting way – It’s SO theatrical! I mean, there are 5 or 6 guys in black controlling the ball, players, table! They’re right there, visible, but in black outfits and the whole audience goes “Okay, they’re there but we’re not supposed to look at them”. I love that kind of stuff, and I’d rather see that than a giant helicopter landing onstage, or a giant flying car spinning around onstage any day! Fun, energetic, theatrical – that’s how I like my plays, too!

This is from a Chinese game show, by the way, I think it’s like the old Gong Show, where people bring in different acts. There are longer versions of this clip, that show them winning the game show, judges awarding them prizes and discussing the performance.

  1. That is cool!!!!!
I’m passing it around the office
That’s like once I saw a play in is it called black light? You know, where you can’t see anything except what is white?
I sat there for ever in a daze, completely stunned and amazed how wonderful it felt to watch it all.
That’s something *I* would be interested in. Of course, I’ve said it before, I’d also love to be a puppetier.
