A couple of performances.

So tonight was the kids school talent show.
Tomorrow is the 2nd Staged Reading at Williamston Theatre.

For the talent show, Maggie and Max did a skit/song around the song Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better, from the musical Annie Get Your Gun It was very fun, with them trying to one-up each other in cartwheels and karate moves and that sort of stuff. The talent show itself was fun, a wide range of talent levels and talents. Jeanne and I had a great time sitting in the High School auditorium, relaxing and watching!

It did leave me wanting Spring to get here quickly; The show opened with a couple students singing The National Anthem, and by the time the night was done we’d had one young man wearing a baseball outfit sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame, and a young lady played the song on the piano! It got my pulse racing for Opening Day! I mean, I’m sitting in a stadium-like seat with lots of other people, we started out with The National Anthem, part way thru we had Take Me Out To The Ballgame, the event was a couple of hours long…add in some hotdogs and beer and you’ve got MOST of a baseball game!! GO TIGERS!! (As if…*sigh*)

Tomorrow is our Staged Reading at Williamston Theatre; we’re doing Oscar and Felix. Great cast lined up. Looking forward to it. Anxious to see how many people come – the first one had a lot of “Let’s go see their first event, see what it’s like” to it. I’m hoping that was enough to make them want to come back! More publicity, and hopefully some donations, too! The biggest thing, at this point, is to get people used to coming to the building! Get people to make a habit of it! I mean, if everyone in a 60 mile radius said “Let’s go there once every two months and buy tickets to whatever’s playing” that would really be nice. (So tell your friends!)

Our next couple of WT events are shaping up nicely. Next month, we’ll have an open house that will include a Ribbon Cutting ceremony from the City of Williamston, welcoming us to the city. And, in March, we’ll be doing a Staged Reading of Jeff Daniels’ comedy The Vast Difference. I worked on the world premiere of this comedy, and it’s a very funny, sweet show that I would love to produce someday! I can’t announce the script we’re reading in April, yet, but I can tell you that in April our “Open House” is actually going to be a big Silent Auction/Open House/Fundraising event! We’ve got some great stuff lined up to auction off, I’ll fill you in on them when I’m allowed to talk about them all! Some very, very cool items/packages, though!
