So they’ve announced that they’re making a new Star Trek movie! J.J. Abrams, the guy who created Alias and Lost is in charge of the project! Whoohooo!
So, they’ve announced that the new Star Trek movie is probably going to be a PREQUEL!; it’ll take place when Kirk and Spock attended Starfleet Academy, and it will chronicle their first meeting and first adventures together.
NOOooooooooooo!!! WHY?????????????

I hope, hope, hope that this movie works, and is brilliant.
I fear, fear, fear that it’ll be a lame Sci-Fi Buddy Flick:
Hey, see the young arrogant Kirk.
See the young “Not-yet-in-control-of-his-emotions” Spock.
See them quarrel and not get along.
See the fate of the universe land in their lap.
Gosh, could they only solve it by working together?
Will they become buddies at the end? I just bet…
I’m sorry, but the experiment with Enterprise, the last show, failed. Going back in the past is a bad idea for a series or a movie. These stories need to move forward. Show us the growth. BOLDLY GO WHERE NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE – do not Blandly Go Back To The Past Where We Already Know What The Future Of All The Characters Is!

I just read that… I am soooo less than happy…No Prequel!!!! If they do a movie, I want it to be Voyager…but I’m a lil biased in my love for janeway!!!
I like the idea of a mixed crew. Give us a new ship, with a crew made up of some of the TNG crew, and some from DS9 and VOYAGER. That would be pretty great. Janeway’s an admiral now, so she’d not be captain, but we could find somebody! I’d love to see that! Or put it on Enterprise with Picard as Captain, and a bunch of the crew from other shows mixed in because of the nature of the emergency they’ve got to fight. I love the idea of picking it up a few years after the last one – crews have changed, etc…
That would be AMAZING!!! Admiral Janeway could be in it though!!!
The real question is…..
Will William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy be playing Kirk & Spock?
I think that would be the real entertaining thing of the whole move.
Kirk loses 100+ lbs as soon as he gets his own ship, and Spock…well I guess the Vulcan’s have this gene where they are born with grey hair, it gets darker, then it greys up again.

How do you even cast those characters?! I mean – coming up with the younger version of two legends? No matter WHAT they do, people will be unhappy.
