Scary Movies!

After spending money to see Silent Hill (which disappointed me), I’ve had scary movies on my mind.
I mean, scary movies. Movies that scare you. Not movies that just use gore to gross you out.

Then, Entertainment Weekly came out with this great feature:

The 20 Scariest Movies of All Time.

I’ve seen a lot of them, and I have to admit – they’re scary. I’m going to have to rent the ones I’ve not seen yet!
Plus, there are a couple of movies that I found very scary, that I’m surprised aren’t on there.
Still, that’s what makes these kinds of lists fun – they’re very subjective!

So what’s YOUR scariest movie?

    • Arachnophobia!
Spiders, huh? Isn’t there a ’70’s movie about giant spiders taking over and cocooning a whole town?
      *does a google check*
Yep – sure enough…and best of all…it stars WILLIAM SHATNER!!!
So, if you hate spiders, but LOVE William Shatner, you must check out: Kingdom Of The Spidersl!

    • I’m sorry to say I’ve never seen it, although I like Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. It’s just one I’ve never gotten to. However, I will now put it on my list, thanks to YOUR recommendation!
Good to hear from you! I hope life’s good!

  1. I generally hate horror and suspense movies, but I’ve liked several movies I’ve seen coming out of Japan, part of the same movement as “Ringu.” My favorite has been Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s “Cure,” about a series of murders commited by unrealted people with the same M.O. and have no idea why they did it afterwards. Very understated, in a way that just catches you off guard.

    • I’m not an expert in the horror genre or anything, but I do appreciate a good scary movie. I didn’t see Ringu, that’s what “The Ring” was based on, right? That was pretty scary.
For some reason, I always link The Ring and Blair Witch Project in my head, I don’t know why, but I can’t think of one without thinking of the other…weird. Blair Witch was pretty freaking scary!
“Cure” sounds very interesting! I might have to try and find that one!
Hope the show’s going well! looking forward to seeing it!

    • Re: TOTALLY UNRELATED
I hadn’t heard of it until I checked the link – yeah, I agree! The finalists could definitely be better! And why is it all women? Not that I don’t like women superheroes, but all of them? And one of them has the “Seductive Gaze” as a Superpower?! *laugh* Shoot, I’ve got that one in spades! *REALLY laughing this time!*

Dead Calm Great suspense movie. The original Alien is another great scary movie. Figured I could add to the list.

          Oooh, Alien ROCKED!
Dead Calm, I never saw the whole thing. For some reason I can’t remember, we rented it and I never watched it. I’ll have to add it to my list now!

  2. I can’t believe ‘Evil Dead’ was on that list. That movies was a comedy, and a darn good one too!
I am a big horror movie fan, and the one thing I did like about the list was it was mostly made up of movies that ARE scary. I like that they left out aliens. Aliens aren’t scary. Why? Cause they don’t happen (at least not yet.) But some guy going nuts with a machete? It happens, and it could happen to you.
I have a hard time coming up with my scariest movie ever. I know what my CREEPIEST movie ever is, ‘Wizard of Oz’, never could enjoy that movie.

    • I dunno, I’ve seen some alien movies that were scary! Still, it is that whole “lunatic who should be my dentist decides to strap me into the chair and rip my teeth out with a chainsaw” thing that scares the crap out of me, cuz who knows….

  3. Scary movie
I love scary movies so much my husband and I don’t do the whole theater scene but wait anxiously for each new scary movie to come out on the shelves. I checked out your list of 20 scariest, I’ve seen all but 2 of them and plan to rent them ASAP. I cannot wait for the remake of OMEN to come out. It will be great.
