Testing a website!

Sooooo, I’m playing with a website design.

Anyone who might be interested, I’d love some feedback on www.tonycaselli.com if you have the time!

It’s early, but I’d be interested in hearing what you like, what you don’t like, what you’d like to see on there…that sort of thing. I’m going to continue adding to it, but am looking for ideas, as well! So throw those ideas and thoughts at me! 🙂

EDITED TO ADD: The resume is messed up, I have my header/phone number twice by mistake (oops), but the big problem with it is this: When I cut and paste from MS Word, the spacing/tabs between the SHOWS and the THEATRES goes away, which is why they’re all run together. What the heck? Anybody got any Website Guru Wisdom on how/why this happens and how to fix it?

    • A) that wasn’t nearly as helpful as I’d hoped someone with your skills would be.
      B) That’s a special, private thing between you and I and that nice Danish couple. I’d appreciate it if we could keep a low profile on that.

      • In all seriousness, I would suggest maybe moving the photo of you from the resumé page to the main index page. It’s a bit more welcoming for some reason. It lets visitors see you immediately and gives them an instant idea of what the site is.

        • Yeah? I thought of that, but then thought maybe it looked too much like an actor’s site. But “welcoming” is a good thing!… Maybe I’ll give that a shot – thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look! I appreciate it!
          And welcome to LiveJournal!

            • Done and Done! I think you’re right, I like it. I was worried about putting my big mug out there right on the front page, but I think it works!
              Thanks!!
And let me know if any other ideas pop up!
(cuz I just know this is gonna keep you up all night…)

          • Thanks Kate! I think you guys are right, I like the way it looks! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out! 🙂
Now if I can figure out how to make the stupid resumé look right…but for now, I’m going to sleep! Hope your mom is doing well!

  1. Web site comment
I agree with the others the picture on the first page is a good choice. Nice picture by the way.
    A couple of comments.
Your name and Title are running over each other. Also the text on the right is bit hard to read. I think because of the angled lines ghosting under it. Might also be because I’m getting old and the font is kind of small. Any way just my two cents.

Hey! Thanks, Spence! Glad you like the picture! I’m a good looking man. *laughing*
That’s interesting, on my screen the name and title aren’t running together…I’ll have to give it more space and hope that accounts for the weirdnesses of the internet and the variety of computers/browsers that will be used!

  2. I like it!
Now I have some Q’s for you!
How much did you pay/where did you find a domain name service? Who is hosting your files(webserver)? Are those templates? I’ve seen a lot of fancy websites like that lately from friends of mine who don’t know much about html and I’m curious to know how to do that.
I want to badly update my poor website….it’s so old. 😦

    • Well, there are a lot of domain name places – I went with Domains.com to register the name, and I’ve got that domain pointing to the website I’ve created which I’m having hosted at my .mac account. I’m using RapidWeaver to create the website (mostly templates that I’ve played with – I also have no interest in HTML), and then just uploading it to my .mac site, and it works well. I would shop around for the best price for hosting the name, and then check out their website making software – some places have drag and drop website templates/programs that let you make a site pretty easily. (Domains.com wasn’t as easy as I would’ve liked, but RapidWeaver is designed for Macs, so I’m using that!)

  3. Looking good
Looks like you figured out the resume issue. Of course I’m looking at it on my Mac. I’ll have to check it out at home on the PC to see if it still looks the same. Like the seats up in the corner as well. Yeah, our little theatre!!

    • *laughing*
I was gonna make it about you and your sister, and use it to try to get YOU work, but then it seemed weird to have it be tonycaselli.com, so I decided to keep it about me.
