You scored as SG-1 (from Stargate). You are versatile and diverse in your thinking. You have an open mind to that which seems highly unlikely and accept it with a bit of humor. Now if only aliens would stop trying to take over your body.

Sweet. I would SO love to be a part of that team!

Anybody else?

Kids are awesome. Want mine?

There are times when you wonder, as a parent, where you went wrong.

I mean, he’s only 5, so there’s still time, but still…

Last night, right around bedtime, after “healthy snack” and before “teethbrushing time”, I was in Maggie’s room pulling out her trundle bed – as I’ve mentioned, they’ve been wanting to do a sleepover in her room.

So I’m preparing the room for the sleepover.

Max comes running in, twinkle in his eye and breathy with excitiment.

“Hey Dad!” He says, sing-song-ey, “The wind blows to the East! The wind blows to the West!”

Then he stuck his rump out and farted at me.

This was immediately followed by peals of laughter and he zoomed out of the room giggling hysterically.

“Momma! I TOOTED on Daddy!!”

Of course, the uncontrolled giggling doubled once Maggie got wind of what was happening.

*sigh*

Let’s hope this is just a passing fad.

What is happening on my television?

Um…last night I was flipping channels on the box, and I saw this “Coming Up Next” promo on TLC:

When Surgical Tools Get Left Behind.

My first thought was “That’s ridiculous.” But then I thought, “But it might be neat to watch.” Like slowing down to check out a car crash – you don’t really WANT to look, but you kind of have to.

So what do YOU think? Would you watch this? Have you? What’s the attraction?

Channel 101: The Musical

I’ve mentioned before that some friends, Mike and Jason, had made several short films. They’ve recently wrapped up their filming of this very funny series, and all 5 of the episodes are online.

If you’re looking for a few minutes of fun, check them out! Start at the bottom of the page with Episode 1, and work your way up through the finale, Episode 5!

Or, check out this very funny ‘non-musical’ short – as you watch, be amazed: It’s all done in ONE take! The Jogger.

After you’ve looked at those, poke around Channel 101 a bit – there is quite a bit of fun stuff on there!

The last few days in review…

This week has been so busy. Since Saturday, almost no time.

– Saturday’s Staged Reading at WT went great. Very well received, a nice house, about 65 people – less than the first reading, but we expected that. Not nearly the dropoff I was afraid of, which is a good sign!

– Held auditions for our first show, ADDITIONAL PARTICULARS. Very, very exciting. A bunch of great actors showed up, gave me a ton of good choices – it’s always very nice when casting a show really comes down to being able to match type, chemistry, workability and all of the factors you look for! (As opposed to going “well, I only had one guy show up who was remotely right, I guess we’d better use him.”, which was a long way from what happened for this show!

– Movie night with the kids and Jeanne. Anyone see Zathura? Fun kids movie. Some scripty and director-ey things that bugged me, but I wasn’t really the target demographic.

– Christine loaned me Stephen King’s new book, CELL and I’ve been reading it before I go to sleep the last few nights. I may be up late with it tonight, because it’s starting to get interesting!

I had this amazing, weird thing happen on Sunday.

A couple of performances.

So tonight was the kids school talent show.
Tomorrow is the 2nd Staged Reading at Williamston Theatre.

For the talent show, Maggie and Max did a skit/song around the song Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better, from the musical Annie Get Your Gun It was very fun, with them trying to one-up each other in cartwheels and karate moves and that sort of stuff. The talent show itself was fun, a wide range of talent levels and talents. Jeanne and I had a great time sitting in the High School auditorium, relaxing and watching!

It did leave me wanting Spring to get here quickly; The show opened with a couple students singing The National Anthem, and by the time the night was done we’d had one young man wearing a baseball outfit sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame, and a young lady played the song on the piano! It got my pulse racing for Opening Day! I mean, I’m sitting in a stadium-like seat with lots of other people, we started out with The National Anthem, part way thru we had Take Me Out To The Ballgame, the event was a couple of hours long…add in some hotdogs and beer and you’ve got MOST of a baseball game!! GO TIGERS!! (As if…*sigh*)

Tomorrow is our Staged Reading at Williamston Theatre; we’re doing Oscar and Felix. Great cast lined up. Looking forward to it. Anxious to see how many people come – the first one had a lot of “Let’s go see their first event, see what it’s like” to it. I’m hoping that was enough to make them want to come back! More publicity, and hopefully some donations, too! The biggest thing, at this point, is to get people used to coming to the building! Get people to make a habit of it! I mean, if everyone in a 60 mile radius said “Let’s go there once every two months and buy tickets to whatever’s playing” that would really be nice. (So tell your friends!)

Our next couple of WT events are shaping up nicely. Next month, we’ll have an open house that will include a Ribbon Cutting ceremony from the City of Williamston, welcoming us to the city. And, in March, we’ll be doing a Staged Reading of Jeff Daniels’ comedy The Vast Difference. I worked on the world premiere of this comedy, and it’s a very funny, sweet show that I would love to produce someday! I can’t announce the script we’re reading in April, yet, but I can tell you that in April our “Open House” is actually going to be a big Silent Auction/Open House/Fundraising event! We’ve got some great stuff lined up to auction off, I’ll fill you in on them when I’m allowed to talk about them all! Some very, very cool items/packages, though!

“You have to dream, you have to have a vision, and you have to set a goal for yourself that might even scare you a little because sometimes that seems far beyond your reach. Then I think you have to develop a kind of resistance to rejection, and to the disappointments that are sure to come your way.”
Gregory Peck
