And now, for Theatre Lovers everywhere: Robin Givens is coming to Broadway.
*sigh*
I swear to God…hell in a handbasket. Rain of fire, cats sleeping with dogs, the whole kaboodle.

“How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people.”

“In the time of your life, live – so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite variety and mystery of it.”

Ours is a big, varied, world.
So the last couple of weeks have been big. Life Is Good.
Not much time, but I wanted to throw this out there.
CLICK HERE To hear an interview that I did recently with Tamar Charney, from WUOM, Michigan Radio – the Ann Arbor NPR affiliate. She was doing a piece on the Michigan Economy, and wanted to talk with someone from the Arts who’s job had been eliminated due to the economy. It aired today at 7:30am and 5:40pm. [EDIT: You may have to scroll down, the segment was on August 29, 2005]
The piece is nice, if a little short – there are some interesting interviews (I’m only in a chunk of it) – unfortunately all of my discussion of my partners in the WTP was left on the editing room floor, which is a bummer, but at least the name of the company is out there. AND on their website, Michigan Radio, you can see a pic of me and there’s a link to the WTP site.
I tried to avoid sounding like an idiot – let me know what you think.
So this weekend, I served as a Judge for the Chelsea Community Fair Queen Competition. I was one of 5 people given the difficult task of sitting in judgement over 8 tremendously wonderful young ladies, all of whom were vying for the title of Chelsea Fair Queen 2005.
The event went very well, and it was an honor to be asked. During the private interview portion of the event, we had to ask questions of the contestants, and judge them on their responses.
I asked a question that prompted an unexpected response from one young lady. She began to answer, but the answer involved her grandmother, who is not doing well health-wise, and the poor young woman began to cry. After that, I didn’t ask anymore contestants that question, but later the other judges (we were all in the room together) said I should’ve, they thought it was a good question. (Well, it is, but I didn’t want to see anybody else cry, I wasn’t in the mood!)
SO. Since I didn’t get to hear a bunch of thought provoking answers, I’m asking all of YOU.
Imagine that God came to you and said “Hey there. Tomorrow, I’m gonna make the world a better place – I’m gonna do it by eliminating ONE FEAR that most people have. Which one do you think I should eliminate, and why?”
WHAT’S YOUR ANSWER?
Obviously there’s no right or wrong, I just think it’s interesting!
(P.S. Another judge made another contestant cry after that, so it wasn’t JUST me! It was just an emotional day for the young ladies!)
The Williamston Theatre Project is getting a building!!!
We have a benefactor/donor/angel who is going to buy the building we want, and then lease it to us for $1 per year. Yes, One Dollar.
*Cheering and whooping commence here*
More info will come as soon as I can announce it.
Oh, the plans we have…
Oh, the work we have yet to do…
and in the words of Tamara Tomorrow:
“Oh, what the future holds.”

Click here to see an article about The Williamston Theatre Project that likens me to Joe Pesci. (?!?!)
And here’s a related article, that mentions us! And this one has a picture!
Sometime soon I’ll have info to post on the interview I did with Tamar Charney, of Ann Arbor’s NPR station, and hopefully a link where you can listen to it! (Because I know you’re just dying to hear me talk more about the WTP!)
Swiped this from several people…
Go to Music Outfitters, and type the year you graduated high school in the search box in the upper left part of the page. The first result you get from the search will be the top 100 songs of that year. Click on that, and copy the list over here.
Bold the ones you like a lot. Underline your favorite. Strike through the songs you loathe. Put an “?” after the ones you’ve never heard of.
Okay, I did it!
Okay, thanks to allisona I’ve been introduced to a fantastic thing: The Oberammergau Passion Play.
For those, like me, who haven’t heard of it before:
In the Bavarian Alps, there is a small village – Oberammergau. During the plague in 1632-1634, they began to lose a lot of population – over a fifth of the village died. They prayed to God to be spared from the plague, and vowed that if he would spare the rest of the village, the whole village would perform Passion Plays in his honor every 10 years.
Well, from that moment on, no one else in the village got sick or died. So they kept their vow!
They did the first Village wide performance the following year, in 1634. Since then, they’ve adjusted the schedule so it’s now in every year ending with a 0, and the text has been updated a bit to eliminate some anti-judaism, but they’ve been producing the play every 10 years since 1634!
I’m amazed at this! Follow the links, and check it out. The last one was in 2000, and the next will be 2010. I want to learn the language and GO!
