*Geek Alarms Going Off*

Okay, some scientists are saying that wormholes might not be able to exist: Wormhole Story

Now, this really really screws with my plan to time travel in my old age and see all of the good baseball games I’ve missed, and go visit the future where I can ride on a rocket ship to another planet and visit with aliens. How am I going to relive my “most hilarious moments of my life” list over and over without time travel?! (Oh shush, you know you keep one of those lists too…) I mean, with MY family, you know that’s a good list, and I’ve got plans!!

I don’t care what these couple of nay-saying scientists say, I’m holding out hope!

CORRECTION!

Bwahhh haaahaaaa…..

The LIONS -vs- MIDGETS article was a hoax, and we all fell for it!! I love the internet!!

Also, in other news, I’ve just been abducted by aliens.

That’s true. That’s not an internet hoax. Seriously.

Here’s our logo in the B&W format! Ooooh yeah.

Now if I can just get the damned thing to post to the website, we’ll be hunky dory! (Well, that and if we can get a few more hundred thousand in donations, that would help too…)

EDIT: As of 1:00pm, I’ve heard that the logo pic doesn’t show, but it shows on every computer I’ve checked it on…let me know if you can see it or not!! (Is it a Mac -vs- PC thing?)

The Future

Tonight I got to watch my daughter perform at her first Piano Recital.

In front of about 100 people (family and friends of all the kids performing, of course), she played 4 short pieces. She was great – not nervous or scared to get up in front of people, she played well, it was a marvelous night, and I was very proud of her. Watching her, I started to think about all of the other ‘firsts’ Jeanne and I will go through with the kids – their first dates, loves, heartbreaks, all the way through maybe sitting someday and watching her watch her child’s first piano recital, the way my mom did tonight.

Nights like this you think about the future. Grateful for the past, it’s funny to think of how time moves. The future. Someday we’ll look back at it and reminisce about it as ‘the past’, but until then… much mystery. Maybe she’ll give up Piano, and not want to do anything musical. Perhaps she’ll be an artist, like she says. Maybe she’ll be an electrician, like her uncle. A gardener, a stay at home mom, a single business executive wheeling and dealing in the corporate world. A teacher, like her mother?

The future. The mysteries. She’ll solve them, in her own way. In her own time.

She took another step tonight.

Okay, let’s try this…

1. Reply with your name and I will write something about you.
2. I will then tell what song/movie/TV show/whatever reminds me of you.
3. If I were to apply an o’clock to you, it would be…
4. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
5. I’ll tell you the most memorable moment I’ve had with you.
6. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I’ll then tell you something that I’ve always wondered about you.
8. Put this in your journal. (if you have one!)

Let’s see how much trouble I can cause with this little thing! Don’t be shy, jump in!

Lions -vs- Midgets

Oh. My. God. Thanks Aaron for the referral on this.

Beware: Strangeness mingled with stupidity and death linger behind the link.

With a story so bizarre that all thoughts of “oh, that’s actually kind of sad” are wiped away, I present to you the following:

Lions -vs- Midgets

Star Wars

Against my better judgement I’ve let Aaron coerce me into going to a midnight showing of the new STAR WARS movie, which apparently involves someone named Darth something and some Revenge…haven’t heard much about it.

(I guess this is a movie franchise that’s been around a while? Don’t know how I’ve missed it…I’ll go, but it’s not gonna be Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, I can tell you that right now.)

Not that I mind seeing a Sci-fi movie, I’m just expected to be up at 7am, so, you know, lack of sleep, blah blah blah…

Hang on…Oh, my phone just rang…apparently Star Wars has been around since like the ’70’s…huh…why do people keep CALLING me about stuff I put here instead of posting themselves? And how the hell did he know what I was writing? Weird…

Anyway, not that I mind seeing a late night movie. In fact, this takes me back to college. Gerald, college roommate and still good friend, was the projection booth manager at the local Showcase cinemas. We previewed just about every movie that came out for a couple of years for free. Plus, we’d eat all the popcorn we wanted. Problem was most of the time to do it we’d have to do it after midnight, so a bunch of us spent a LOT of late late nights watching movies…some very good, some very bad. (Anyone remember “Folks” starring Tom Selleck? No? There’s a very, very, very good reason you don’t. Talk about 2 hours of your life you’ll regret wasting on your deathbed…)

Hang on…phone again…huh…apparently some folks consider this “Star Wars” thing was almost as good as one of MY personal favorites, Star Trek. Only 6 movies, though, huh? Interesting. Star Trek had 10 movies and 5 television shows. Well, maybe if they keep working these “Star Wars” folks’ll come up with something…

Happiness

“Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” Helen Keller (1880 – 1968)
