Monday Morning

Good rehearsal last night. Act I is looking good. We move to the stage Tuesday, looking forward to that. Great group of people at work on this production, we’re having a good time.

So, I haven’t brought up that I’m in the process of opening a new theatre company. My partners, John Lepard and Christine Purchis and I are working towards the opening of The Williamston Theatre Project, in Williamston Michign. Things are moving along well, I’m looking forward to getting this show open and having my classes done (I’m teaching this year at Eastern Michigan University, too.). Once May comes around, I’ll be done teaching and SUMMER & SMOKE will open, I’ll have a lot more time to get the Theatre Project up and running. I’m a big fan of regional theatre, and starting one up is an exciting challenge.

So, my Detroit Tigers lost last night. Close game, they lost 7-6, but they made a nice comeback, since Jeremy Bonderman gave up 6 runs in the first inning to put them in a huge hole. After that, he settled down nicely, but oh man! 6 runs in the first inning?! Still, the team looks better than they have in a long time, and they’re leaving the first homestand at 3-3.

The best news, though is that my family came back from their vacation! So, my wife and kids are back after a week. (Jeanne, my wife and best friend, is a teacher. This was Spring Break so she and the kids went to visit family. I had to work, so I couldn’t go. My schedule NEVER matches up with Spring Break!)

That’s it for now. Teaching today, then a Theatre Project meeting, then lots of Family Time. A good day!

First time out…

Allrighty then. Just going online here to start a little blog action. Unclear exactly what that will be, and if it’ll even be interesting enough for ME to want to read it, much less anyone else. Got the thing started, and now I’m off to take a shower and go to rehearsal. I’m a professional director, of plays. Love it. LOVE IT. The storytelling, the craft, the business, the people. Currently directing SUMMER AND SMOKE, the Tennessee Williams classic at The Performance Network in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This page will probably have a bunch of ramblings about that, theatre in general, and who knows what else. Feel free to jump on and add comments!
Off to work – Back soon!
