At the end of Every Christmas Story Ever Told!!, the guys do a mishmash of holiday songs called Every Christmas Carol Ever Sung, and it’s a ton of fun. Terry Carpenter, who has worked on both our productions of the show, sent me the link to this video, which is a different kind of mash-up of holiday songs! It’s fabulous!!
A nice article
John Lepard, one of my founding partners in Williamston Theatre, had a nice article written about him and the theatre!
Nice article, plus some fun pics of the building, some shows and some rehearsal!
Sunday Night Quotes
Lots of good things this week – a couple less good, which got me to thinking about disappintment…
“Expect people to be better than they are; it helps them to become better. But don’t be disappointed when they are not; it helps them to keep trying.”
Merry Browne
“I am sometimes disappointed, but I love my life … and I must believe that the disappointments contribute something to what I love.”
Jan Denise
“We love to expect, and when expectation is either disappointed or gratified, we want to be again expecting.”
Samuel Johnson
Oh, the weather outside is frightful…
Wheeee! Big snow storm!
Lots of snow dumped on the state, and lots of wind blowing it all around!
Still, since we had a sold out show scheduled, and because the rest of the schedule is already sold out and we can’t add any more shows, we decided rather than just completely cancel it, we’d give refunds to whoever couldn’t make it and go on with the show.
So – we’ve got about 1/3 of a house having a great time downstairs as I enter this post! It was fun, fielding phone calls this afternoon, when we’d have people say “Oh YAY! We were afraid you’d cancel!”!
A great week!
Every Christmas Story Ever Told!! opened to a sold-out house last night, and got a giant spontaneous standing ovation at the curtain call! The show is a ton of silly, sweet, heartfelt holiday fun, and the whole audience had a good time.
Because it’s only a 2 week run, and a remount from last season, we didn’t invite or expect reviewers, but the very kind Jim Fordyce from Lansing came, and gave us the following “4 out of 4” review on his Michigan Entertainment website:
Last season’s smash hit at the Williamston Theater is back and this year I corrected the oversight I made in 2006 and did not miss it! I was in the opening night audience for a big cup of holiday hilarity. The presentation begins as we get ready to watch the Dickens Classic “A Christmas Carol” and then one cast member balks and we go with the cast on what is billed as an “impromptu romp through the BHCs (Beloved Holiday Classics)! ” Joseph Albright, Aral Gribble and Chris Korte are absolutely delightful as they take us from Frosty the Snowman and a send up of Rudolph to the Peanuts Gang and Its a Wonderful Life. Add in some off beat lessons about Christmas around the World, and some audience participation and you get 2 hours of Holiday Fun that gets the perfect Four out of Fordyce!
Here is the only problem with this show: My most excellent holiday friend Chris P. at the theater told me during intermission even though they have added a show, almost all the performances are sold out. SO,DO NOT WAIT! Click here for the Theater’s Web site and get one of the few remaining seats.
Upcoming goodness…
Tech for Every Christmas Story Ever Told!! went wonderfully! We’ve got a dress rehearsal later today, and open tomorrow to a sold out house. Then we play for 2 weeks to sold out houses! Yay Team!
I hope this whole “Sold Out” thing is a prelude of things to come for a long time… 🙂
Okay, this XKCD comic made me laugh!
(PS – I tried to embed that comic into this entry, couldn’t figure it out… any pointers?)

Hah!
Oh my.
This baseball fan is having a GREAT day!!
The Detroit Tigers made a giant trade to bring Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to the team.
This is a huge, ginormous lift to this team. The ESPN Baseball experts are praising it all over the place! “Most impressive lineup in the majors.” and “Detroit is now a mega-force in baseball, up there with the Yankees and Red Sox.”
Cabrera, an amazingly skilled 3rd baseman, and Willis, an excellent pitcher who will fit in wonderfully, are very possibly the key pieces needed to take this team back to the World Series.
Gaaaah! I can’t wait for Spring Training!!
Some quick morning thoughts…
Heroes season finale…hmmm…I’m hoping that was a quickie solution they came up with because of the writer’s strike? I found it a little dissatisfying. Chuck, on the other hand, continues to be something that I really enjoy – as improbable and silly as it is!
As much as we swore this wouldn’t happen, our puppy Sneakers now spends most nights sleeping at the foot of our bed!
Max lost a top front-tooth, now he’s got that big goofy smile and a little lisp with some words! So cute, I can’t stand it. AND when he put his tooth under his pillow, he left a note for the Tooth Fairy: “Dear Tooth Fairy, could you draw me a picture of what you look like on this piece of paper? I would like to know what you look like. Your Frend, Max”
Thanks to those of you who emailed me your thoughts on www.tonycaselli.com – yeah, I like the simple feel of it, too, but I’m not sure if maybe I should spruce it up with more shots of shows I’ve directed, or if the layout just seems lame and blah…Obviously the goal is to have a site where folks can go, check out my work, and decide that they want to hire me to direct! (I’d still love feedback from anyone else – you can leave it as a comment here, or use the “contact me” button on the site!)
I’m looking out the window, and MAN do I not want to go out into that cold. And yet – the theatre calls! Have to get the space ready for our Friday concert. Plus get the the art gallery ready. Plus…well, y’know, it might be time to re-do my to-do list, maybe I’ll use a nice LJ post to get it all straight in my head. That’ll be worth some thought on the drive to work.
Have a great Tuesday morning!
