  1. Purpose…
Just caught up on the last couple of days. I love the DaVinci quotes. Very inspiring. I’ve been pondering the “doing” dilemma myself the last couple of days. I’ve done so much over the past several months, meaning that I’ve completed a TON of tasks. Huge life tasks. But I’m not sure how I feel about what I’ve actually accomplished.
As a person, I’ve survived it all. All the change and loss. I think I’ll be grieving it all for quite a while. So then the temptation is to fill up all that loss with something else. Tasks, errands, busy work. But I think that would just be filling a hole to fill it, not because the filling is worth it. Make sense?
So, I think what I need to be DOing at the moment is… less. Allowing myself to breathe and not be tempted to clutter my mind and heart to the point where I can’t hear myself anymore. And when I do DO something, make it worth my time and effort and really experience it all. And try to let go of everything else.
Then, maybe, my DOing will actually add up to something productive. Something with the ability to touch people. I think that’s what I want to DO in the long run.

“Less” can be a very valid answer. Less clutter, or in my case, I think of all of the things that are “Distractions”. That’s a big one for me lately; “Work ethic Good, but distractions…tempting…” So it becomes a matter of How To Spend The Time: No Matter What, Time Will Be Spent! Will You Spend It Usefully?

  2. Kind of long sorry
Thats just wrong. Funny but wrong, I was number nine so the link seems to be working.
Caught up on the last several days so I’ll answer most here. Congrats on the good reviews and nominations. In terms of the site. I like all of what you’ve been doing. The family updates, random musings, rants and observations are all fun to read. But thats just me.
I also agree about simplifying and prioritizing. There are alot of fun things to do that arn’t necassarily productive and these are fine in moderation. The trick is not letting them eat to much time.
And speaking of not waisting to much time. Saw Madagascar on Friday, funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. Loved all the pop culture referances. Also went to see Crash if you haven’t heard about this one yet I highly recommend it. Some of the best acting on film. Very heavy and kind of dark but a nice piece of cinema.
And on another time wasting note. A guy I work with is loaning me the Far Scape DVDs so I’m almost caught up. The more I watch the better it gets and the more disapointed I am that SciFi pulled it. I have also heard a rumor that if Serenity does well they may make a Far Scape movie. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and be sure and see Serenity when it comes out. Take care and keep up the updates comeing

Thanks – hope things are well in your part of the country! I agree, FarScape rocked. I can’t afford all of the DVD’s, or I’d have ’em, and be wasting MORE time! I need to do that LESS, not more! 🙂 And don’t worry, Serenity will rock!

  3. Thank you for eating my brain. It was slowing me down. Too much crap to think about in there. This makes me think of an email I got a couple years ago. It was a resignation from adulthood…so that we could go back to the days when McDonald’s was a four star restaurant, crawling into your dad’s lap could solve all of your problems, and finding a penny on the ground was like the pot at the end of the rainbow. No worrying about getting/keeping a job, paying bills, being responsible. To go back to the days when you didn’t even know what a 401K was or why you would need one. To run barefoot through the sprinkler all summer long…
So here’s the keys to my car and office, my 401K statement, and my shoes. Last one to the backyard is a rotten egg!!!!

    • Resignation from adulthood…or at least a vacation…
Aahhh, the good old days. I love watching my kids at McDonalds – the filet o’ fish, for goodness sake, is what Maggie loves! And they were running thru the sprinkler today, using saucer-sleds as ‘shields’ from the cold water!

  4. Brains
Think I was number 13. Interesting concept, eating the brains. Ever read the Runelords books? Eating the brains of another Reaver gave you all of their knowledge. I’m sure that theory has been used before in books, films, teachings of the occult, and other assorted activities, but what I am getting at here is, where are my keys?

  5. …i don’t remember what number i was since i no longer have a brain, and thank you for reminding me (because of the aforementioned brain devouring) as to why i have been unable to posess cognative thought as of late…but that could also be because i’m in tech week…

    • Ahhhh tech week…good luck with that!
Just remember – when it comes to tech week going smoothly…it’s all about focusing on what needs…wait…I forgot, what were we talking about? (Truth be told, tech week is all about morale, but don’t tell anyone I said so…)
