Been a little busy lately, not much posting, sorry. A handful of updates:
The Williamston Theatre Project will be doing a reading of THE NERD on August 20th. It’s a little different than the readings we’ve done so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the folks react. These readings have been very useful as we try and plan our first season or two!
Speaking of WTP, had a great meeting today with a couple of our big supporters and their friend Marti, who’s a development whiz. (If you saw this article in the Lansing State Journal then you’ll know they just announced the completion of a $1.2 Billion fundraising campaign. Yes, Billion with a B. She helped make that happen!) SO, she spent the morning chatting with us about our Project, and we’re looking forward to many more conversations!
In other news, an amazing thing happened today. I was coming home from my morning meeting, (to grab a few things and head out again) and pulled into the driveway. After I turned off the car, and the blaring radio stopped, I was hearing this LOUD cacophony of sound. I got out of the car, and looked around, listened, and was amazed: You know how you see giant flocks of birds, sometimes, all covering a field like a giant, acre-sized inkblot on the ground? Well, one of those inkblots had chosen to land in many (if not all) of the 40 or so trees in our yard. The sound was amazing! (I actually said “Whoa!” out-loud, and I could barely hear my own voice, the chattering was so loud!) Wandering the yard, looking at what appeared to be several hundred birds in our trees, I started wondering “What could they all be saying?!” I mean, were there a couple hundred individual conversations going on, like the drone of a crowd at the ballgame? Were they all just vying for attention, wanting to get their opinion heard in some avian argument? After listening for a few minutes, I ran into the house to grab what I needed, and headed out to Ann Arbor (for my meeting with Ernie Zack, my financial guy who handles my retirement accounts, the kids Education IRA’s, that stuff.) When I started the car to leave, I left the radio off, and drove away slowly, underscored by the temporary tenants of our yard, thinking what an amazing world it is!
And that’s a quick update. From all of us here at tony101, have a great day!
that sounds awesome.
i love when life hands you something like that.
Yep, it was definitely a moment full of wonder! I wish Jeanne and the kids had been home to hear it, but they were gone.
“i love when life hands you something like that.”
Sometimes it seems on purpose – all I was thinking about driving home was “am I gonna make this meeting on time, blah blah blah rush rush rush” and then I step out of the car and am reminded that there are other really, really wonderful things going on! Thanks, Universe!
Birds. Birds. and Birds
That must have been cool, but come on, it’s very Hitchcock. The Birds. How do you know that they don’t want to eat you and your entire family, if given the chance? Now they know where you live, your license plate number, what your kids look like . . . you might just want to think about moving.
Love,
Annie

*laughs and nearly spits decaf mocha all over the keyboard*
Great, now I’m a little creeped out! I’m gonna take the fact that they were gone when I got home later in the day as a sign that they’re NOT going to be eating us.
Hey! We have a coffee date! I need to call you about that!!
Amazing thing
Here I am tony, finally posting on your site. hooray! Your posting made me think how lucky I am (yes, its all about me) I am constantly amazed by all the beauty in the world and all the fantastic brilliant things that nature does each day that is so complex and perfect. I feel that I am lucky because some how, some way (perhaps I read to the blind in a past life) I have found myself surrounded with people in my life who see these things too. Who see the beautiful and AWESOME of the everyday things. You are one of those people my friend! I am glad to have you in my cosmic bubble 🙂
-Callie
ps. I am reading Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet and it is totally changing my life. Check it out!
Re: Amazing thing
Callie! So nice to see ya! I’ve not read THE PROPHET, but I know some of Gibran’s work, pretty wonderful.
