And now, from the Hell in a Handbasket file, this little earth-shatterer: Rosie O’Donnell returns to Broadway…in Fiddler On The Roof?!?!
It’s the end-times, folks. Hurricanes, floods, Rosie O’Donnell. Somebody read it and explain to me how the hell these things happen.
Aww..see, the knock came at your front door, my handbasket missed it’s turn.
The last thing I saw Rosie a part of, was ‘Taboo’ and that didn’t do so well.
Karma karma karma Chameleeeeeooonnnnnnnn!
Ah Taboo! Poor Rosie and Boy George!
Sad to say, and I’m sure you’ve already considered this angle, it’s all about celebrity. And whenever I hear of yet another bythenumbers Mamma Mia music revue, or a movie being reduxed into a bythenumbers musical, it makes me less anxious to get back to Broadway and see stuff.
That’s exactly it – sadly – and the idea that people will flock to pay $100 tickets to see Rosie O’Donnell as The Matchmaker in Fiddler on the Freaking Roof bugs me. Still, I suppose it draws attention to Theatre as an Art Form, or as an alternative to TV, so I suppose that’s a good thing, anyway…*sigh*
