Baseball is almost back!!

Oh yes, my LiveJournal, we’re approaching that wonderful time of year.
Spring Training is well under way.
Predictions about “Who will make the team?!” and questions like “Will the Tigers be ANY better? Even a little?!” fill the air.

Sadly, it looks like I’m going to miss my first Tiger’s Opening Day in a long time.  *sigh*
Still, I’ll be watching on TV, and listening to Dan Dickerson on the radio doing the play by play…I have to say, I miss Ernie Harwell’s voice.  Ernie, for those who don’t know, was the Tiger’s radio broadcaster for many decades – he was an icon, an institution in Detroit Baseball.  He’s in his mid-80’s now, and retired a couple of years ago.  Dan Dickerson does a very nice job as the new Voice Of The Tigers, I have no complaints about him at all.  Still, it’s hard to let go of a tradition.

So – Tigers Baseball comes back on April 3rd, as they start the season at Kansas City.  This is, probably, one of the only teams in the league that we should be able to beat every game.  Let’s hope we start out well and crush them in their home opener (heehee), and have a winning streak after that.  Then on to Texas for a couple of games against the Rangers, and then home for the Home Opener on April 10th, at 1:00.

Jason Beck’s MLB Blog has nice analysis of the Detroit Spring Training.
The Detroit News has interesting Baseball info.
CBS Sportsline has a nice baseball section, and is especially good for Fantasy Baseball!
And, of course, the link for the Official Detroit Tigers Website is on my links list, to the right!

Go, read about baseball!  GO!

  1. You know I’m not a big sports person, but I still want to go to a Tiger game this year.
I still haven’t been inside the new stadium.
I want to be a bleacher bum on one of those really warm spring days, and eat hot dogs and drink too many beers.
I haven’t been to a Tigers game since the 80s!!
