Just Journaling…Passion and hard work…

Our lives are inspired by the dreams we have from the earliest stages of our youth. When you combine passion and hard work, then success is always possible. While no road is ever straight, dedication and persistence will always lead you to your dreams.
— Arte Moreno

I like this quote. Reading it reminds me not only of why I’m working hard at what I do for a living, but of the other things that I consider my “dreams” – being a good dad and husband, succeeding in my directing/producing career by making good plays, doing more writing than I currently do, making people laugh, owning a jetpack, going to outer space, working on a starship…whoa, that got away from me a little bit there.

(For some reason that made me think of a Captain James T. Kirk quote: “I’m from Iowa, I only work in outer space.”)

It’s been a busy day. Up early, went to the gym and worked out. (Yep, 3rd day in a row! I know, I know, I’m as surprised as you are.) From there, lots of reading/scheduling/planning/organizing. Leaving Iowa is coming along nicely. The actors in the show are good, and good to work with. Our rehearsal schedule is a little wonky, but we’ll be okay.

Also, got some GREAT news about Williamston Theatre – we may be able to work out our building/building code issues with minimal money/time spent! Such a huge relief that will be. And we’re getting ever closer to first rehearsal of our first show…only 47 days until rehearsals start. Can’t wait! I love this first play we’re doing – funny, sweet, and thought provoking. I love what it says, and how it makes you feel when you hear it. Can’t wait to do it.

Called home mid-day because the kids were home (only 1/2 day of school today!). Talked to them both, Maggie made me laugh by being silly, and Max said “Daddy, I’m giving you a big hug right now over the phone.” Then I heard some rustling around and the BEEEEEEEEEP of a couple buttons being mashed down for 15 seconds as he hugged the phone. “There,” he said, “There’s a big hug for you!”

*deep breath*

Passion. Hard Work. Dedication. Persistence. Dreams.
You betcha.

Ah, the circle of life. It moves like the wind. As fast as The Flash, there in my user pic.
This wasn’t really a response to your post, Dom, as an excuse to use my new Flash userpic. *Chuckles evilly*

  1. You are amazing, you know…
Congrats on the good news about the building. Just wanted to let you know that from the outside, it appears as though you are living your dreams quite well. (except for the jetpack)
And you are a constant source of inspiration for me.

Just started it yesterday! I got jealous of both my friends wasting all their time writing in their LJ and thought i’d see what all the fuss was about.
And I don’t have many pics of me with the hat – that’s my favorite.

          Wasting time? Wasting TIME?!
Exploring our inner souls, David – that’s not Wasting Time! Journaling our lives as they happen, so we better understand them, David! That’s not Wasting Time! Sharing with ourselves, and others, David! That’s not Wasting Time. Honing our reflective, introspective and retrospective abilities, David! That’s not Wasting Time.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go take another one of those quizzes that show me what Star Trek Character I am. I just love those!
