11:20 pm rambling

There was Chocolate Yoo-hoo in my fridge.

I really enjoyed the conversation about Motivation on the last post – thanks everyone!

The Detroit Tigers are now 19-9. 10 games over .500! Go Team! Even the national press is noticing! Check THIS out!!

The chocolate Yoo-hoo was in ‘drink-box’ form. Only one of them, the remainder of an 8 pack. This means that my wife and children have had 7. I took it. It’s now sitting on the table next to my hands as I type. Calling me.

The amount of work getting done at Williamston Theatre right now is amazing. Risers and walls being built, drywall being hung, meetings being had and money being raised. We’re getting close. Every day something cool happens as we build toward our first rehearsal. We have a costume designer, as of today. Excellent. We start rehearsals in 12 days. Excellent.

The Yoo-Hoo is chilly. It’s sweating onto my desk. Calling me.

We had to take Max to the Emergency Room a couple of nights ago. You simply cannot be in the same room as your almost-6 year old every second of the day. And of course, when you’re not, he decides that the best place to practice his “Funky dance moves” (his words) is on top of the slippery table. In socks. He’s fine, and has nothing more than a fat lip to show for his trouble. Well, that and a great story about falling off of one table and smashing his mouth on the corner of another on his way to the ground. Funky Dance Moves? *sigh* Man, it sucks when your kids get hurt. Between the worry and the guilt, if you’re any kind of decent parent you’ve got a night of fitful sleeping ahead of you. Still, a little antiseptic, a little “Maybe a mild concussion, but nothing more – he’ll be fine” mixed with “Hey, my 5 year old boy is always hurting himself on something – it’s what they do!” and you just cuddle them and hope that you can teach them to make good choices.

The straw is in the Yoo-hoo, but it’s not yet been sipped. It’s been shaken, of course, per the big red “Shake It!” on the top. Even the straw is calling me now.

Um – did anyone see Lost tonight? SWEET!!! Oh, man, it’s about time they did something big on that show – this season’s been a little less interesting for me than the first season, but I liked tonight a LOT!!

Sweet Mother of Pearl. That’s some good Yoo-hoo.

Tomorrow I get to go on a field trip with my daughter. I can’t wait. I get to accompany my 8 year old and her class to a museum in Lansing, MI. When I got home from running some errands she was already ready for bed, and came running up and jumped on me and said “Yay! You get to come with me tomorrow! It’s gonna be so much fun!” I’m pretty sure she’s right – it IS going to be fun, and I can’t wait!

I have a big date with my wife this weekend! Yay us!

*sigh* These drink-boxes are very, very small. Do they make this in gallon form?

  1. Isn’t it wierd? Its like the juice boxes, because we had apple and grape juice boxes as a kid, were HUGE and now they’re like…puny.
Max faling off a table reminds me of when I was like 4 or 5 and playing “She-Ra” in my room, I went to take a stab at that evil sorcress with my She-Ra sword, lost my balance and cracked my head against a table. I cut my cheek and had to have stitches — never lived it down either. You can still sort of see the scar.

    • Yeah, I can remember my brother and I having “Belt wars” and whipping each other with belts. One time I made the mistake of turning mine around and smacking him in the forehead with the buckle. He still has the scar!
      *sigh*
And I have the gall to talk to my son about “making good choices”?!
      *facepalm*

      • Just for the record, the scar from ‘Belt Wars’ is on the back of my head. The scar on my forehead is from the CEMENT that was under the swingset at our Elementary school playground…
Who puts cement under a swingset?
I still owe you for that one too, and I just got a new Carhartt belt too.

          • Yoo-Hoo
Yoo-Hoo is the best. When ever I take a road trip I look for it every time I stop for gas. It can be hard to find so its a special treat whenever I do come across it.
I also want to thank you for having an amazing ability to drag up old memories. Hearing about Max’s accident made me think of breaking my finger in 6th grade. Or you kneeling down on the tack during the bug. As well as some other more vague memories.
Glad to hear Max is OK and that you enjoyed your Yoo-Hoo.
            Later

Oh my God, I forgot all about kneeling down on the tack during that show!
Now that you mention it, though, I do remember the jumping around and pain.
Yep, that’s not something I’d recommend to most people. Most.
