On the way to healthy-town.

Whew. Got some antibiotics, some tea, some soup and some rest. Off to bed soon (again), and I’m feeling a bit better now, so I expect that in the morning I’ll be feeling much better! I hate that whole “getting sick” thing.

Interesting: I’m laying on the couch, in Buffalo, New York, and watching a replay of Governor Jennifer Granholm deliver her State of the State Address for Michigan on C-Span 2. She’s a great speaker, Jennifer Granholm. I listened to her speech live on the radio a few weeks ago, home in Michigan (while driving). Watching it tonight, I’m inspired by her passion for the state, but also still frustrated and disappointed that she didn’t mention the Arts once. A couple of years ago she touted a “Cool Cities” program that used the Arts to help re-vitalize the downtown areas in cities all over the state. They distributed many grants to cities and organizations that were working to rebuild downtown communities in large and small cities. This year, not a word about the Arts. That’s discouraging for a guy who runs a newly opened not-for-profit theatre company. Still – I’ve got faith that this year will be big for both Michigan, and the Williamston Theatre.

  1. Hope you are feeling better!
So I was flipping through my new edition of my MSU Alumni Magazine and what do I see??!! A picture and interview with John Lepard of the Williamston Theatre Company! It was a great little interview and highlight of the theatre. Thought that might make up some for J. Granholm….
p.s you should definitely send her a letter about that-you are such a good writer and she should be aware that it was noticed that she didn’t mention it. As a matter of fact-I will write one too!!

    • Thanks, Beth! Actually, I’m feeling quite a bit better. We had a long rehearsal today, so I’m a bit beat, but it was a very good day.
That’s a good idea – I should write her a letter. I think I’ll do some research on where to send it. Good thought, thanks!
Hey, is that MSU Alum Mag online? I’d love to see the article! I’ll ask Lep if he got a copy of it…

      • I am so glad you are feeling better! Don’t work too hard-yeah right!
Yes the magazine is on-line. Go to msualum.com and then you have to log in as a member to view the article- log in as torreyeb and then password: mickey. The article is in the winter 2007 addition. You can search for an archive by using John’s name. I also have the hardcopy of the article saved so if John doesn’t have one then I can send you mine.
