Random rambling thoughts on a Monday evening…

Oh, geez. The Tigers already have Kenny Rogers, their ace pitcher, on the disabled list for another couple of months…NOW we just put our spectacular relief pitcher Joey Zumaya on the DL too! Until the end of July! The guy throws 103mph… or he did until he ruptured a tendon in the middle finger on his throwing hand. Ouch. Let’s see if the team can overcome this big loss to the bullpen!

Wow – the weather has been so great here the last couple of days. We’re trying to get a little yard work done – we have a bunch of issues with our lawn, all stemming from grubs. Soooo…we’ve put down grub killer, weed killer, and in some spots we’ve put down new grass seed and fertilizer! Hopefully we’ll get the lawn back into shape!

I found out I have to have an argument with the insurance companies: When I was in Buffalo and got very sick and went to the doctors, they naturally billed my insurance. Now the insurance company wants them to bill another insurance company (the one my union pays for…if I qualify). So it’s a big pain in the butt because no one wants to listen or solve it. Can’t they take a LITTLE of the jillions we give them and invest in some customer service/communications lessons for these people?!

Speaking of health, I’ve been trying to eat and drink more healthy foods – fell off the wagon today and had a McDonalds burger/fries…but I had Powerade to drink with it, does that count as helpful? I’ve been doing well the last couple of weeks – no fast food, small snacks throughout the day instead of a couple of huge meals…lots of water (and tea – especially iced tea!). Oh, and I’ve eliminated all creamer and 1/2 and 1/2 from my coffee – now it’s black with the brown “Raw sugar”, which I was told is healthier for you (or…not as bad as white sugar.) Hope that’s true!

Okay, TV talk: Heroes has been awesome. AND I’ve been able to watch both Stargate: SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, which have been equally awesome. I’m a big Stargate: SG1 fan, and this is the last season so I’m really enjoying it. Thanks to Chris I get to see them on tape! 🙂

Other TV news: The Amazing Race ended a good season with a somewhat weak finale, but that’s the way it goes with unscripted game show television! Survivor has a couple more episodes, (Thursday and Sunday) and then it’s done too – this has been a fun season for that show as well!

Oh, and Lost has rekindled my interest this season, so I’m enjoying the build up to the season finale. Yes, there are still moments that make me want to punch the producers, but those are less than they were last season! 🙂

A very good board meeting tonight for Williamston Theatre. A couple of problems solved and, although our cashflow is not what we want it to be and our ticket sales are light for this show, morale is high as we begin pre-production work for the 5th and final show of our 1st full season! (Which means, of course, that we’re well into planning for the 2007-2008 season! – I’ll talk more about that in the upcoming week or two!)

And lastly…a very exciting directing job looming on the horizon. I’ll be discussing that…very soon.

  1. Heros
I couldn’t agree more about Hero’s being awesome. The last several episodes in particular. Thanks to Tivo I just watched the future episode from last week. Some pretty cool twists and turns. Although a bit over the top with Syler at the end. Any way liked it a lot. Havn’t seen this weeks yet, it’s waiting at home. Hope all is well.

    • Re: Heroes POSSIBLE SPOILERS
I LOVED that twist with Sylar at the end! Totally caught me by surprise, which isn’t an easy thing to do! I went into that episode expecting to not like it (I was like “This will just be filler, since we know it’s an “alternate reality future” episode), but I wound up loving it – they did some great storytelling, AND moved the plot forward at the same time, how can you beat that?!
Enjoy this week! Only a couple more left…then I imagine they have to re-vamp the whole series for a Season Two! It’ll be interesting to see what they do with it once this storyline is over!

    • Thanks! I’m working on it!
Although…sometimes there’s nothing like a McDonald’s Quarter-Pounder with Cheese (plus mayo) and some fries to wash it down with!

  2. I’ve been getting a lot of yard work done too lately.
We replanted grass seed where Kayla burned the grass up with her pee (No lie.), Dave sprayed the lawn with weed and clover killer…(although the clover hasn’t been as much of a problem as it was in previous years.) and replanted some plants and shrubs.
We’ve got this strange onslaught of lavender. The neighbor’s next door planted it in their garden and the house got pulled and now it’s all growing up in the front flower beds. Can’t complain, it’s pretty.
I’m also taking the first couple of steps to put up my flower box in the front of the house! Whoo-hoo!
