Comic Con Sleepiness

In the airport, 10:15pm San Diego time. So sleepy, hoping I will be able to sleep on the plane! The pace of the last two days, plus the time change from Michigan to here (3 hours), combined with only 4 and a half hours of sleep last night and less than 4 the night before have wiped me out!

What a great, fun adventure this Comics Convention was! Hopefully I will be able to post some pics tomorrow, and share some of the cooler moments in an intelligible, coherent manner. Too sleepy for that tonight!

I will say, though, that sometimes it’s great fun to let your Geek Flag proudly fly!

It’s times like these that I have to thank God I’m married…and my last name is now Phipps. Then I’m not so easily connected to you and your brother Dorkmeister…I mean Dominic. You fly across country to go to a comic book convention, Dominic is at a model train show today…seriously.
Now I’m going to have to get out my wonderbra and whore shoes and head to the bar to hustle some pool. Somebody’s got to uphold the family name.
In the famous words of Grandma Caselli, “Oh Dio!”

LMAOROTF. Gina, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing at this. Thanks for making my day.

You shouldn’t post comments when you’re enraged by jealousy, it makes you look petty and bitter. Poor, poor thing… you should really just admit your love for all things fun, and stop hiding behind a life of debauchery and disillusionment.
Nice icon. Is that the headshot you sent in when you were auditioning for Salt-N-Pepa? Are you the one with the purple hair, or the little red one on the right?

Gosh…maybe you’re right. Maybe I should just go down with the ship. I’ll go learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons, get myself a lifesize cardboard cutout of a Wookie, and start cruising Ebay until I find a complete collection of mint condition Garbage Pail Kids. Guess I better see if I can move into mom and dad’s basement too.
Thanks for opening my eyes to the ways of the Geekhood. I’m assuming there’s some kind of initiation right? Nerd hazing of some sort? I probably have to be able to list all of the Star Trek aliens in order of appearance…guess I better start studying.

  2. Did you see anything about Fan Boy why you were there? It seems Hollywood is trying to figure out what people at that show like because they can make or break so many movies. and they have termed the genic person they are looking for Fan Boy. I figure we’ll be seeing on shirts soon. Plus someone went a made a move by that name. Any way just woundering.
Glad you had a good time. I look forward to seeing the pics.

    • Well, Fanboy is a phrase that started with comics a long time ago, and has been prevalent in that world, and the scifi world, for a long time. Hollywood is, as always, trying to find a way to cash in on that phenomenon/subculture!
You’ve been able to buy “Fanboy” shirts for a while now, not connected to any specific movie or anything, but just proclaiming your place in the world of comics/animation/sci-fi/fantasy/gaming!
So I did, in fact, see many fanboy shirts! And pins! I think there’s even a comic book named fanboy! Sort of like Dork Tower, and that kind of self-aware nerdy fun! πŸ™‚
You would love the comic con! So much fun!
