Sunday Night Quotes

Lots of good things this week – a couple less good, which got me to thinking about disappintment…

“Expect people to be better than they are; it helps them to become better. But don’t be disappointed when they are not; it helps them to keep trying.”
Merry Browne

“I am sometimes disappointed, but I love my life … and I must believe that the disappointments contribute something to what I love.”
Jan Denise

“We love to expect, and when expectation is either disappointed or gratified, we want to be again expecting.”
Samuel Johnson

  1. Nothing can kill a relationship like disappointment. But it’s true, it can be a very powerful lesson when you are disappointed, if you examine it as such and don’t sulk in a corner (which can be awfully tempting on some days).
Nice quotes. A good way to look at something that’s inevitable in life and often negative.

    • It’s funny, but I guess you’re right – some disappointment really is inevitable. It’s like being in a crisis: Yes, you wish it hadn’t happened, but now that it is, HOW you deal with it will help define you and help you grow!

  2. Hey Tony. Didn’t really know how to contact you otherwise. Don’t know if you remember me because it’s been awhile. I just found out that one of the new apprentices at the Purple Rose Theatre didn’t work out and they need another one, so I’m applying. Working on getting my letters of recommendation together right now. Have any suggestions for me to help me get this? Thanks, JJ
