Ros and Guil are Dead…hands down my favorite…brilliant language, genius writing and timing, and a true connection to one of the greatest plays ever written…nirvana.
You know they’re doing a production at Performance Network in a about a month, right? If you’re still in the area, you should go! Great cast, great director! http://www.performancenetwork.org
Wayne State U is also doing R&G as well as Hamlet all on the same set…I hope to see all three.

Oh, I have to re-read that! It’s on my shelf, and you’re right – a beautiful play!
In 1990, Arts Access at NC State began Audio Description and I was one of the first describers. We were trained by the founders of Washington Ear (http://www.washear.org/audiod.htm) and so were dedicated and a little fanatical 🙂
ANYWAY– the first year we mostly did childrens theater and community college productions. My best experience was working on “The Crucible” at a Baptist women’s college near my house. I’m not sure if I would love the play as I do if I’d met it under different circumstances, but the girls at the school were as dedicated as we were and far more talented and so it’s my favorite.
And then there’s also this– I was working on “The Crucible” when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter.
Before that I’d have said “Dark Of The Moon,” once again due to my personal experience with it. In 9th grade it was the sexiest thing I had every seen and I kissed a boy backstage working on the stage crew so it’s always held a special place in my heart. Ha. Sorry if that’s not a valid reason :).
That’s a great CRUCIBLE story! Very cool. It really is a great play, and it sounds like you had an incredible time with it!
I’m not familiar with DARK OF THE MOON – but I’m gonna go find it after that description! 🙂

“Once in a Lifetime” – saw the revival at Circle in the Square in the late 70’s & have never laughed out loud so much, so loud, so often any other time.

The Lion in Winter. Absolutely gorgeous language combined w great characters, great emotion, and quality humor.
Also, anything by that wonderful Joseph Zettelmaier. I hear he’s just great. And sexy.

Wow tough question. South Pacific holds a special place in my heart because it was the first show I worked on. As you recall. If I remeber correclty you were one of the sailors. Any chance you can still do a coffee grinder? The Lion in Winter is also special because it was the only show I’ve actually been in. Anyway I guess these would be my answer.

*laughing* Yep, I was a Sea-bee in SOUTH PACIFIC. Couldn’t sing back then any more than I can now! Favorite note from that show: “Tony – sing quieter. A lot.” But I sure as hell could do those coffee-grinders! HAH!

“Orpheus Descending” by Tenessee Williams. It’s got it all: it’s sexy, exciting, funny, and devastating.

Oooh – I had never read that play until several years ago when I was directing a production of “Summer and Smoke” at The Performance Network Theatre in Ann Arbor, MI. I read a few of Williams’ other pieces as part of prep for it, and was really struck by how much both plays carried the themes of sexuality, rebirth and passion waiting to be woken! I love the way his small southern towns just seethe with unquenched desires!
“A Body of Water” by Lee Blessing, and I just had the good fortune to direct the show! It’s a beautiful script that plays as beautifully as it reads. Plus, Lee Blessing is my favorite playwright…
I don’t know who you are, anonymous, but I’m with you. I have nearly every play Lee Blessing has written. True genius.
