Friday miscellany

!

•First preview of OEDIPUS went very well last night, for several reasons:
1) We learned a lot, about moments that work well, and moments that can be made better.
2) The audience was VERY positive. During the show they were engaged, gasping, laughing (yep, there are a couple of laughs!). And after the show they were vocal in the talkback about how much they enjoyed the show.

So today we’ll polish some moments, change a few staging things, cut a couple of lines, and keep working!

•It was 25 years ago today that the space shuttle Challenger was lost with all hands. I remember that day very well. Here’s to the brave folks lost that day, and to those who continue to explore, knowing the risks: The future is out there, and it won’t come to us – we’re all in their debt for being among the pioneers out there searching for it.

•I have an exciting gig lining up. More info to come, but it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Oedipus First Preview

First Preview of Oedipus went really well tonight! I’m very proud of the work everyone’s doing, and I was really happy at the audience response! Folks seemed to enjoy it very much, the talkback was incredibly positive and helpful. It’s interesting, too, watching when people KNOW when something big is coming up, and when bits of information are revealed you hear the ripple run through the audience – almost a “Oh, man, here we go!” kind of vibe.

So – previews continue, our work continues – there are still bits to be cleaned up, and that’s exactly where we should be! I can’t wait to get back at it tomorrow!

MOVIE!

Here’s a fun video: John Lepard recorded some clips from today’s Tech Rehearsal of OEDIPUS at the Williamston Theatre, and we thought we’d post them!

So now, without further ado, for your viewing pleasure: OEDIPUS TECH DAY (abridged)
