I’m getting ready to launch into rehearsals for the next show I’m directing, The Usual: A Musical Love Story at the Williamston Theatre. One of the fun parts of directing (one of the many) is doing the research and prep work! This quirky, odd, sweet little musical has a lot of very fun stuff going on in it –
Here’s a sampling of what I’ve been checking out!
Old Computers!
And are you vocalizing every day too, like you did in Two by Two. I have a video tape if you need a refresher course!
Hah! No, I will leave that up to my Musical Director and the actors. I’m just going to point and wave a lot, and trust that they’ll find some meaning in it that makes me look like a good director. 🙂
I LOVE this part of the process so much I create a show blog!
Hi Jane! Thanks for commenting! I often blog about parts of the process, and the Williamston Theatre keeps a production blog on our website, but I don’t think I’ve ever just blogged the whole research phase – what a fun idea! I’ll have to watch for your next one!
I’m doing my first show blog. Fun to come across yours!
glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading!
